After the Single Use at Med-Tech Insights Expo 2026

After the Single Use researchers Alice Street and Millie Marriott Webb participated in Med-Tech Insights Expo 2026, engaging with professionals across healthcare, manufacturing, design, and sustainability.

As part of the Innovation Stage programme, Millie Marriott Webb presented What Comes After the Single Use for MedTech, sharing research into the material composition, regulation, and environmental impacts of single-use medical devices. The presentation highlighted how better understanding of device lifecycles can inform more sustainable procurement and design practices in healthcare.

Street and Marriott Webb also presented the Deconstructing Devices project with an engaging exhibition and interactive display. Deconstructing Devices disassembles common medical technologies to expose the complex materials and assemblies contained within. The work prompted discussion around the environmental impact of single-use systems and the challenges of material recovery in medical contexts.

The event offered a platform to connect with a wide range of med-tech stakeholders, with ongoing conversations reflecting growing interest in sustainability, lifecycle thinking, and carbon accountability in healthcare technology.
