After the Single Use researcher Jeremy Greene delivered a presentation titled ‘After the Single Use: Rethinking the Role of Single-Use Plastics in Healthcare’ at the 2026 Institute for Health and Society (IHS) seminar series.

The seminar explored the historical development and contemporary impacts of single-use plastics within healthcare systems, examining how disposable medical technologies became embedded in clinical practice and the environmental challenges associated with their continued use.

Hosted as part of the Institute for Health and Society’s initial colloquium programme for 2026, the event brought together researchers and attendees interested in the histories, infrastructures, and future of healthcare plastics. Jeremy Greene is Director of the Institute of the History of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.
